The Government of Canada has introduced a National Action Plan to End Gender-Based Violence, a plan designed to create a society free from such violence, emphasizing support for victims and survivors across the country, which was developed through a forum including Provincial and Territorial Ministers responsible for the Status of Women. The plan was designed to change societal norms and address economic and social factors contributing to gender-based violence, ensuring timely and culturally appropriate services for those affected. The plan is structured around five main pillars: supporting victims, preventing violence, ensuring a responsive justice system, implementing Indigenous-led approaches, and improving social infrastructure and environments
CPHR Alberta conducted a survey among its members to understand the landscape of gender-based violence in the workplace. The goals of the survey aligned with that of the National Action Plan, and will allow for discussion on how the workplace can contribute to achieving these goals:

Online survey of CPHR Alberta members (n=235) from March 14, 2024, to April 19, 2024. Email invitations and reminders were sent to CPHR Alberta members.

Outcomes
Email invitations were sent to n=6,076 CPHR Alberta members. The survey had a response rate of 3.9%.
Results were weighted according to CPHR Alberta regional chapters in order to ensure a representative sample of CPHR Alberta members.
Significant differences at a 95% confidence level among subgroups relative to the total are called out throughout the report where relevant.
