Chartered Professionals in Human Resources of Alberta (CPHR Alberta) respects the privacy of all individuals who visit our website.

What is personal information?

Personal information is information about an identifiable individual, including home address, credit card numbers, personal email etc. It does not include information normally found on a business card such as name, title, company, business address, and business telephone or fax number.

Why does CPHR Alberta collect, use or disclose personal information?

CPHR Alberta is committed to administrating and delivering superior products and services to our members and stakeholders. As a result, we collect, disclose and use information, when applicable, for the following purposes:


  • To fulfill the objectives of the Association as outlined in the CPHR Alberta bylaws
  • To process applications for membership and recertification of the CPHR Alberta designation
  • To process registrations for workshops, accredited exams, conferences, and other CPHR Alberta events
  • To distribute Association publications. To communicate notices of relevant conferences, seminars and courses, products, and services
  • To contact members regarding membership and accreditation renewals
  • To notify members of new membership benefits and other Association related information
  • To provide access to the Online Membership Directory for networking purposes
  • To confirm designation or membership status for employment verification


Information collected may be placed in databases, word processing merge documents, and other electronic systems to facilitate the uses described above.

How is information collected, used or disclosed on the CPHR Alberta website?

When you visit our website our web server automatically collects standard information including IP address, domain, length of visit, pages visited, referring sites or sites from which you came, the site to which you go, browser type etc. We use this information to compile reports assessing the usefulness of our site to our visitors, to assess our marketing efforts, and to monitor our website's performance.


These reports are statistical in nature and do not identify individual users. Some sections of our website may distribute “cookies” (small amounts of information) to your web browser about your visit to our site. Cookies enhance your browsing experience and allow us to recognize you when you return to the CPHR Alberta site. We may amend our privacy policy from time to time. Such updates may affect our practices of collecting, using and disclosing your personal information. How secure is the information stored by CPHR Alberta?

The CPHR Alberta is committed to protecting all personal information collected. We maintain reasonable safeguards including, but not limited to, computer firewalls, password-protected databases, multi-factor identification, secured folders, locked filing cabinets and restricted access to offices.

Retention of Personal Information

Federal and provincial privacy legislation both stipulate that personal information does not need to be retained longer than is reasonably required to fulfill the purpose for which it was collected.


CPHR Alberta will retain files that are no longer active for up to 10 years after the matter for which the file was opened has been concluded.



After a member leaves the CPHR, the CPHR will retain his or her personal information for at least three years or for as long thereafter as is reasonable. The CPHR may, at its sole discretion, destroy duplicate material so that one copy is retained in either paper or electronic form.

How can individuals access their personal information or relay concerns?

Individuals have a right to access and review their personal information collected by the Association.
