2021 National Salary Survey - CPHR Alberta

An association of different HR associations across Canada was interested in conducting a National Salary Survey among HR managers across the country.


The National Salary Survey was first conducted in 2016.


Consistent with the 2016 survey, the key objectives were to better understand:

  1. HR salaries, benefits, and other compensation;
  2. Job responsibilities;
  3. Acquisition and benefit of HR designations; and,
  4. Professional development activities.

Input Received

Feedback was collected through an online survey from May 17 - June 6, 2021.

Outcomes

In total, 51,671 human resources professionals were invited to participate in the survey. Overall, 4,948 members across Canada completed the survey, which translates to a response rate of 12%. A total of 5,716 CPHR Alberta members were invited to participate, with 432 who completed the survey. CPHR Alberta’s response rate is lower than the total at 8%.


Sample sizes and margin of error (based on Finite Population Correction) for each group are:

1. Base Size: Total: 4,948 | Alberta: 432

2. Margin of Error*: Total: +/- 1.3% | +/- 4.5%


*19 times out of 20, using the Finite Populatiopn Correction Factor


Data has been weighted to align with th epopulation sizes for each HR association.
