MEMBERSHIP CATEGORY

Student Member

Connecting with the business community during your studies will help you kick start your HR career. As a student member of CPHR Alberta, you can get involved with the community and connect with HR professionals from across our jurisdiction.

 

Student membership is available to individuals who are:

  1. Enrolled in full-time or part-time studies, with two or more courses per semester, in any HR degree, diploma or certificate degree program at an accredited post-secondary institution
  2. Enrolled in a continuing education program, taking two or more courses per semester toward an HR certificate or diploma
  3. Internationally educated professionals in Human Resources enrolled in a career bridging program, Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada (LINC) program at a recognized post-secondary institution or immigrant-serving agency

You must provide proof of continued enrollment at the start of each calendar year to keep your student membership. To prove you are a student, send one document proving your student status. The document can be a letter from your post-secondary institution a screenshot of your current schedule or official working transcripts.

 

The document must include:

  • Your name
  • Your school
  • The program and courses you're enrolled in

Students Members are not eligible to write the National Knowledge Examination® (NKE). In order to write the NKE you have to transfer to Associate membership status.

 

Please note: A degree from an accredited post-secondary institution in Canada or an international degree that has been assessed by the International Qualification Assessment Service as equivalent to a Canadian degree is required to qualify for Associate membership and attain the CPHR designation.

How to Apply for CPHR Alberta Membership

CPHR Alberta has membership types to meet the needs of HR and business professionals at all career levels.

Create Account

Your very first step is to create an account with our association. Click “Join CPHR Alberta” – this will take you to the CPHR Alberta Member Portal.

New Customer

Click “New Customer? Click here” to create your CPHR Alberta Member Portal account.

Submit

Fill in all required fields on the application page and then click “Submit”. You will then be automatically logged-in to your new CPHR Alberta Member Portal.

Apply

Click “Apply for Membership” and carefully read through the available membership options.

Select Membership Category

Depending on which membership category you are eligible to apply for, click on “go here” – this is located at the bottom of the page. Depending on the membership category you have selected to apply for, submit any documents required for CPHR Alberta to assess your membership application, or make arrangements to have them sent to CPHR Alberta.

Application Fee

Pay the membership application fee to submit your membership application.

Assessment

CPHR Alberta will assess your membership application to determine if you meet the criteria for membership under the category you have applied for.

Decision

Once CPHR Alberta reviews your membership application, we will send you notice via email that you have either been approved or denied membership with CPHR Alberta. Please note that submitted membership applications can take up to 60 days to be reviewed and processed.

Membership Dues

If approved, you will need to login to your Member Portal and pay your pro-rated membership dues for the year. Once your dues have been paid, you will be an active member and a part of a community of over 6,000 Human Resources professionals – all of whom are dedicated to strengthening the HR profession in Alberta.
