CPHR Alberta CEO, Ioana Giurca recently sat down with Amanda Fleising on the SuccessFinder podcast, “The impact of HR societies and the current world of work with guest, Ioana Giurca”
to discuss the future of CPHR Alberta under the new leadership.
Ioana’s 13-year professional journey with CPHR Alberta has expanded many different areas including HR, Accounting, Administration & IT management. Her experience with the association set her up for success as she stepped into the role of CEO in June of 2022.
Over the last two years, CPHR Alberta has experienced steady growth thanks to a 5-year Strategic Priorities
implemented in 2020.
Guided by the priorities, the association is on track to maintain momentum and growth in 2023.
CPHR Alberta’s philosophy, vision, and mission are about serving our members in the best way possible. Our goal is to equip members with the tools and resources to support successful HR careers.
Ioana shared that one of the major events that took place in 2022 was the association’s first-ever hybrid conference, Engage 22. Based on positive feedback from over with 500 attendees, we are excited to present our 2023 event in a similar hybrid style hosted in Edmonton, Alberta next fall.
Ioana shared organizational goals for 2023 including building longstanding relationships with students and post-secondary institutions throughout the jurisdiction, continuing our pursuit of self-regulation, and gaining more engagement and exposure within the business community throughout the province.

CPHR Alberta’s Eldon Emerson Scholarship: Undergraduate Award Created in 2021, the Eldon Emerson Scholarship honours Eldon’s exceptional leadership, contribution, and passion for the HR profession. Eldon received the Fellowship Award in 2013—one of the highest honours in our community, recognizing exemplary service and impact. 2025 Eldon Emerson Award Winner Chine Rajafa CPHR Alberta’s Diploma Scholarship: Undergraduate Award Launched in 2023, the Diploma Scholarship supports student members enrolled in a 2‑year HR diploma program.
