About the Event

OHS is crucial to safeguard the physical and mental well-being of workers. It encompasses preventive measures, regulations, and training to minimize workplace hazards, injuries, and illnesses. Ensuring workers' well-being not only protects them but also supports Alberta's economy.

The team from Alberta OHS - Prevention Services branch - will discuss how to develop and implement OHS management systems, how to achieve a Certificate of Recognition (COR) or a Small Employer Certificate of Recognition (SECOR), earn WCB rebates for participation in these programs, and provide an overview of Alberta's workplace injury statistics.

The team will highlight the resources available from the OHS Resource Portal at https://ohs-pubstore.labour.alberta.ca/.

About the Speaker

Bowman Pringle has worked for the Government of Alberta for 12 years. Randy Gauthier, CRSP, Forest Tech.
Started with the Alberta government as an OHS officer doing worksite inspections and assisting with investigations of reportable incidents including fatalities. Over the last 21 years I have contributed as a manager of Inspections and Investigations, Alberta OHS Peace officer, training development and delivery for OHS officers and in the past year and a half, a Partnerships in Injury Reduction consultant. Prior to government I worked in the Forest industry in an Oriented strand board mill, in the woodlands as a forest planner,  harvesting and planting supervisor and a private wood purchaser.

Katherine Launier is an effective practices consultant with the Strategic Evidence and Action team. This team develops externally facing information resources that enables employers, workers and other work site parties to improve awareness, education and the ability to take positive OHS actions that support a culture of health and safety in the province and supports the prevention of workplace illness and injury.
